With an LED strip in the trunk, you not only finally bring more light into the dark, but also give your Kia ProCeed a unique look. Installation is easier than you might think. Here I will show you step by step how to install the LED strip and what you need for it.
What you need for the installation
- Slotted screwdriver
- Socket wrench
- Plastic wedges
- LED strips (e.g. from AliExpress) incl. Adapter for power bridging
Once you have everything ready, you can get started.
Step 1: Detach the interior trim
Start by removing the left-hand interior trim in the trunk. Locate the hard plastic trim and carefully pry up the visible circle with the screwdriver. You will find a hexagon head screw behind it. Loosen it with a socket wrench.
Pull the cladding slightly until a small gap is created. There is not much more you can do and this is enough to feed the thin cables of the LED strip through later.
Step 2: Remove the trunk light
Next, lever out the trunk light. Take the screwdriver and carefully get under the transparent plastic cover. Lever it out until all the light falls into the trunk. Now detach the transparent cover from the holder and remove the existing light.
Step 3: Connecting the adapter and LED strips
Now the adapter comes into play. Replace the existing lamp with the adapter. This has two pins and a red and a black cable. Connect this adapter to the connection of the LED strip.
Run the cables behind the cover so that they remain invisible when you close the cover again.
Step 4: Fixing the LED strips
Clamp the LED strip along the rubber seal of the trunk. Make sure that everything is laid straight to create an even image. If the strip is too long, you can cut it off at the marked points. If it is too short, you can extend it by soldering to position it deeper in the trunk.
Step 5: Reassemble everything
If the LED strip is correctly seated, reinstall the interior trim. Push it back carefully and fasten the hexagon head screw. Replace the small circle in the trim.
