Tado Hijack is a masterpiece because it <em>all<\/em> generations, but the approach differs fundamentally depending on your hardware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1_Tado_V2_Die_alten_Gateways\"><\/span>1. tado V2 (the old gateways)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The V2 bridges date back to a time before Tado became restrictive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>API limit:<\/strong> V2 users have the luxury of around 20,000 API calls per day.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Special feature:<\/strong> V2 devices do not support HomeKit or the new Matter standard.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>How to use Hijack:<\/strong> You must use the so-called <strong>\u201eFull Cloud Mode\u201c<\/strong> (full cloud mode). If you are chasing every temperature change via the Tado cloud, you have a problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The solution - HomeKit Controller:<\/strong> V3 bridges support Apple HomeKit. <strong>IMPORTANT:<\/strong> You absolutely need <strong>none<\/strong> Apple device! Home Assistant has an integrated \u201eHomeKit Device\u201c integration. You add your Tado Bridge as a local HomeKit device in Home Assistant. This allows Home Assistant to communicate directly with the bridge via your local Wi-Fi - completely without the cloud, without a Tado server and without API limits! Temperature control takes place in real time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The magic of Tado Hijack (Device Unification):<\/strong> Since HomeKit only offers rudimentary functions (temperature up\/down), Tado Hijack now comes into play. Hijack recognizes your HomeKit entities in Home Assistant and <em>injected<\/em> (injects) the cloud features (such as battery status, mold risk, hot water, offsets) directly into this local device. You end up with <em>a<\/em> Device in Home Assistant that controls locally via HomeKit at lightning speed and obtains the professional features via Tado Hijack. Search for \u201eTado Hijack\u201c and log in with your normal Tado credentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>IMPORTANT:<\/strong> Now is the time to completely delete the old, official Tado integration from Home Assistant. If you run both integrations in parallel, you will double your API calls and your account will be rapidly blocked by Tado. Don't panic: Tado Hijack will take over all tasks from now on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Welche_Konfigurationsmoglichkeiten_hast_du\"><\/span>What configuration options do you have?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the integration options (click on \u201eConfigure\u201c on the Tado Hijack tile), Tado Hijack offers you a number of ingenious settings to adapt the system perfectly to your home:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Debounce Window (command bundle delay):<\/strong> Here you can set how long Tado Hijack waits before sending commands to the cloud. By default, this is a few seconds. So if you switch off three heaters in the app, the system collects these clicks in this time window and then fires them as <em>a single<\/em> resource-saving command to Tado (Extreme Batching).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Economy Window (night economy mode):<\/strong> Tado Hijack has an intelligent auto-quota system. You can set the integration to drastically reduce the server polling intervals at night (when everyone is asleep anyway and no one is operating the heating manually). This saves valuable API calls, which you then have available during the day for a faster response time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Full Cloud Mode:<\/strong> You should use this option <strong>only<\/strong> if you are using a very old V2 Bridge (without HomeKit) or have absolutely no way of using Apple HomeKit \/ Matter in Home Assistant. If the mode is active, Home Assistant also fetches the pure temperature commands via the cloud. With newer bridges (V3\/X), this will immediately drain your API limit!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Local API proxy:<\/strong> For absolute professionals, Tado Hijack offers the option of connecting a so-called \u201etado-api-proxy\u201c (as a Docker container) upstream. You can then simply enter the local IP address of your proxy in the configuration. This proxy intercepts requests and uses caching to almost completely bypass the API limit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Was_du_auf_jeden_Fall_machen_solltest_Best_Practices\"><\/span>What you should definitely do! (Best Practices)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No matter what generation of hardware you have, there are certain steps that are absolutely essential for a smooth experience:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-fur-tado-v3-nutzer-die-homekit-pflicht\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1_Fur_Tado_V3-Nutzer_Die_HomeKit-Pflicht\"><\/span>1. for Tado V3 users: The HomeKit obligation<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don't rely on the cloud! Be sure to add your Tado Bridge as a \u201eHomeKit device\u201c in Home Assistant (note: you don't need Apple hardware for this!). Once you've done this, Tado Hijack will automatically recognize your local HomeKit thermostats and merge them with the cloud features in the background. This allows you to control the temperature locally in real time while retaining all professional functions such as mold alerts or hot water control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Fur_Tado_X-Nutzer_Die_Temperaturquelle_verknupfen\"><\/span>2. for Tado X users: Link the temperature source<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Tado X relies on the Matter standard, you have to take a small manual step. The ingenious \u201eindoor climate sensors\u201c (which calculate the dew point or mold risk, for example) need reliable temperature and humidity data. Go to your Tado X device in Home Assistant and search for the entity <code>select.zone_temp_source<\/code>. Select your local Matter air conditioning unit from the drop-down menu (e.g. <code>climate.living.room<\/code>). This means that Tado Hijack gets the real-time temperature directly locally via Matter (push updates) instead of waiting for slow cloud queries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Die_%E2%80%9EAuto-Target-Temperature%E2%80%9C_in_Dashboards_nutzen\"><\/span>3. use the \u201eAuto-Target-Temperature\u201c in dashboards<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you use smart schedules, the regular thermostat often only shows that it is in \u201eAuto\u201c mode. Tado Hijack brings its own attribute called <code>auto_target_temperature<\/code> with. Integrate this attribute into your Home Assistant dashboard.
